Workshops and Ceremonies

The workshops with She Awakening are here to support you in reclaiming the Feminine, connecting you to the Earth and our Great Mother, and to support you in sisterhood community.

They’re for women who are looking for a deeper connection to their own innate Feminine body and cyclic way of living, and who want a greater connection to the Earth, her cycles, and each other as women.

We are indeed a part of nature, not a part from her. Our bodies are the made of the dirt of the Earth. Let us reclaim our ancestral memories of drumming together, honoring the cycles and seasons, and recognizing the air we breath, the land we walk on and the water we drink binds us together in sisterhood and community.

Your sovereignty comes through diving deep within and reclaiming your lost and abandoned parts the patriarchy has shamed.  It can be messy, and with my lived experience, knowledgable skills and guidance, and this safe and loving community, it’s way more fun and supportive when we can do it together .

She Awakening offers the following workshops and ceremonies:

Womb Lodge
Ceremony

Thousands of years ago our ancestors understood the cycles of Life, the way rhythms worked – the ebbing and the flowing of the seasons and our bodies. Now it’s your turn.

2 Day Non Residential Sacred Drum Workshop

2 Day Sacred Drum Workshop

The drum is a cross-cultural instrument and Shamanic tool used for thousands of years across all continents. It is the call of the heartbeat, the wild self, and the song of Mother Earth. Its the sound of coming home.

It is the Feminine Empowerment that we need to
fully live to transform our society.

And its your right to know it, live it and breath it.

Celebration Day for girls

The day a girl gets her first period is possibly her most important rite of passage.

She will never go back to being a child in the same way again. Now fertile she needs to be respected amongst society as a growing and developing woman.

Celebration Day for Girls brings a sense of excitement, belonging, appreciation, and wonder to this stage of becoming being a woman and having a menstrual cycle. This one day workshop is designed for 10-12 years old girls with their mother or female carer. A carefully crafted day supports girls and their mothers at this special threshold in both their lives, and provides an affirming, grounded, and connected celebration of the journey to womanhood.

Too often periods aren’t talked about. This leads to embedded shame and embrassment for girls and their bodies.  They become secretive and shy over topics that can actually empower them to know their body and how to support and love it.  Over time this embedded shame, fear and embarrassment can manifest as menstrual dysfunction and disregulation, as well as girls feeling powerless around their body and its needs.  This could look like painful periods, and more serious health conditions like endometriosis, polcystic ovarian syndrome and fibroids.  It also impacts girls and their capacity to speak up for oneself through their growing years with body automony, and even as far as how they choose to birth their babies.  What happens for a girl during these important years becomes a rite of passage from child to Maiden.

Celebration Day for girls

Teaching and empowering our girls about their body and how to support it, gives girls license and permission to follow their bodies rhythm, natural flows,
intuition and to use their voice.

This event is a beautiful way of breaking through this entrenched taboo topic. In the west, we don’t know what to do to prepare a girl for this time. The conversation is typically reserved for a special day at school when a teacher clinically talks about reproduction and growing bodies. At Celebration for Girls we engage in lively discussion, fun creative activities, women’s stories, information and a gentle celebration of the magical threshold of puberty and menarche.

During the day girls are warmly invited into the time-honored, nurturing connection and support women have long shared with each other. Our focus is on creating a strong sense of mutual sharing and support around menstruation. Many participants report that their mother-daughter relationship is enriched and enlivened as the doors of communication in this key area of female experience and development are opened wide.

For more information please see the national website  https://celebrationdayforgirls.com/.

PLEASE NOTE: There are two days required for this event. The first event and second half the day event is for the mothers/female carers. Daughters attend the full day session only.

Wisdom of the Women's Wheel

Wisdom of womens wheel
Wisdom of womens wheel

This one-day workshop drops you into the map of the Women’s Wheel.  We explore this map as a pathway into cyclical wisdom – that of the Earth, our menstrual cycle and body, the rites of passage and life stages of being a women and the cycle of the Moon.  This workshop provides great insight into how our society ignores and denies the Feminine, the Dark and the Underworld, and empowers you to take steps to fully embody this natural and powerful source energy for your own healing, remembering and connection to life as a woman aligned to the Earth upon which she walks.

We explore the real connection between each of these cycles and the feminine wisdom of the dark.  This is powerful and potent knowledge that will carry you and your experience of each of cyclical life to a much deeper place.  Knowing and embodying this map is a powerful way to reclaim our feminine wisdom.  We already know so much about cycles, but do we live them?  Do we honor them?  Do we fully understand the importance and cellular wisdom behind them?

These cycles affect our lives, whether we are conscious of it or not.  And by harnessing the cycle, we are able to live with much greater rest, ease, certainty, connection, power and support within our beings, and as cyclical women – whether you still have a menstrual cycle or not.  So even if you are Menopausal and no longer bleed, this knowledge is just as powerful and relevant for your own life.

This is the knowledge that we deserved to have when we began our journey as Maidens as teenagers.

It's your birth rite. It changes us.

This wisdom changes how we show up in the world, how we are with our peers, in our relationships, as mothers and aunties and how we are in our workplaces.

It is the Feminine Empowerment that we need to fully live to transform our society.

And its your right to know it, live it and breath it.

We will:

As women we are continuously living our menstrual cycle, ebbing and flowing, bleeding or ovulating.  Our society shames this, denies it and expects us to live a linear life, one of which we are expected to have full energy every day of the month regardless of whether we are ovulating or bleeding.

Understanding the true power behind this ebb and flow, this bleeding time and ovulating time is your key ‘in’ to your inner workings and your power….  This cycle is a normal and healthy part of being a women, and this powerful process is your own shamanic journey happening inside us each month.  Our own way to find the wisdom and the medicine we need to hear.  Whether you are aware of it or not, you cycle between four different phases or parts of your cycle as you move through this 28 day rhythm.

During these weeks, we all have different energy,  moods,  mucous and sleep.

Imagine fully understanding how these four phases are connected to the moon, the seasons and the life cycle of being a women.

Imagine having the power to consciously create with this power behind you, rather then pushing and cramming when you need to be resting, and feeling exhausted throughout the whole month.

Imagine fully understanding why the cycle of Birth, Growth, Full Bloom, Harvest, Decay and Death must be listened to, lived and honored so you can move through your life with power and conviction to why you feel the way you do, instead of confused and shameful or negative about your body and your own blood cycle.

Knowing how to tap into this rhythm, this shamanic journey,
this inner voice is the key!

Connecting to this cyclical wisdom of the Feminine is how you can KNOW, LIVE and BE the Power that flows through you, rather then resisting and remaining disconnected, exhausted and unwell.

We will be using the ‘circle asshaman’ to create and hold a safe container for open sharing.  You will be given the chance to create and draw this map over the course of the day so you have a visual representation to place somewhere in your home.

For any women who attend, or would like to attend Artemis’s Sabbat Circles, this workshop is a must.

It gives a depth to the sabbat’s that cannot be grasped by merely attending each sabbat individually.  It gives the whole picture, why we gather at each sabbat and the context to each ones meaning.  (Sabbats are the 8 marker points of the daylight hours ie Winter and Summer Solstice, Autumn and Spring Equinox, and the 4 sabbats between these being Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas and Samhain/ Halloween.)

All women over 16 are welcome to attend.

No previous experience is necessary.

Adult topics will be covered.

I would recommend this workshop for anybody seeking to live more in alignment with
themselves and their cycle

At the Wisdom of the Women’s Wheel workshop, among other things, we looked at the times of day, the seasons, the life cycle, the sabbats, women’s life cycle, the moon cycles, the menstrual cycle, all overlaid on the same wheel…

Looking at my life through this lens makes so much sense.. a woman should not go-go-go with non-stop fever pitch energy like society would have us do. It’s recognising how can I work with how I am feeling and being and not against it, how can I plan my week, month, year to give myself adequate space and rest at the times I need it? I hope that expressing my needs to those around me is easier because of this knowing. It’s also giving reverence to the women in our orbit and where they are at in their lives.

I would recommend this workshop for anybody seeking to live more in alignment with themselves and their cycle 💫 It’s invaluable knowledge I’d wish I’d learnt years ago!!

I left the day feeling more connected to spirit, connected to women past, present, and emerging like I've never known before.

Wisdom of the Womens Wheel, at the Moon Lodge. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to learn more and amongst other women in circle. To go into depth around our cycles and the connection to nature’s cycles. Artemis lead us through profound learnings and remembering, which I’ve realised is such necessary learning to walk on this path as a woman in today’s society. I left the day feeling more connected to spirit, connected to women past, present, and emerging like I’ve never known before.

Artemis holds a wealth of wisdom and a heart full of giving. Tools to keep forever, to celebrate, to have the confidence to speak on with others. To stand more steady in my cycle and to lean in to the power of being a woman. The moon lodge is a special, magical space. We organically flowed through the day together. Playful laughter, heart to heart conversation, true expression, and a reminder to be yourself. Nothing needs fixing. I feel mentally and emotionally stronger and equipped to understand me more. Thank you for a truly magnificent day together. 💗

I would recommend this workshop for anybody seeking to live more in alignment with themselves and their cycle

“I was drawn to the ‘Wisdom of the womens wheel’ workshop as I felt I would like to be more connected to nature and the cycles of life. I have always pictured life as a straight line that I’m moving along…but that never felt quite right.

This beautiful workshop helped me connect to the cyclical nature of life which resonated with me at a deep level. Set in a moon tent, surrounded by women with a similar interest, I soaked up all the wisdom shared. It felt like I was remembering a life once lived in harmony with the seasons, the moon and ancient festivals. I can see how every phase of the wheel has value and the knowledge can be applied to help plan my day, month and year. I am leaning into the importance of rest and renewal as a crucial part of the cycle and releasing my constant need to ‘do’ and achieve.

It was such a lovely group of women whom I felt comfortable to share many laughs and tears over the day. I would highly recommend this workshop and Artemis as a guide to bring this ancient knowledge into your life.

2 Day Non Residential Sacred Drum Workshop

2 Day Non Residential Sacred Drum Workshop

Your body was formed to the beat of a drum. It was one of the first sounds we heard as we were developing foetuses in our mother’s womb. It is the primordial sound of the mother’s heartbeat, as each cell of our body is formed creating the person you are now. Each cell was created with the music of the drum, the beat that has sung true through the generations who have come before us, and those who will come after us.

The drum is a universal instrument. Not owned by any culture. It has been played by the Celts in Europe, the Native Americans in the USA, and all through Africa, South and Central America, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia for thousands of years. For this reason, you, being who you are today, have the ancestral memory of long ago playing the drum. It is a cross-cultural instrument and Shamanic tool used for thousands of years across all continents. It is the call of the heartbeat, the wild self, and the song of Mother Earth.

Its the sound of coming home.

Join us over these 2 days, as we create our own beautiful sacred drums. This process of ‘birthing’ a drum allows us to explore our own birth imprint of how we were born into this world, and how this pattern plays out in all our creative endeavours.

We will be sitting in sacred circle together sharing from our hearts, exploring these birth imprints, and finally birthing our own 15 inch round hoop drum.

Birthing your own drum and doing it in this sacred manner, exploring why we drum, how we as women have always been drummers, and that the drum belongs to no particular religion or culture will be covered over the weekend. Weaving the threads of our own birth, and how we birth our projects, babies and creative pursuits into the journey, ends with you owning your own personal Sacred Drum to walk forwards from herewith.

Drums are life-long companions who remind us to live from our hearts rather than our head. Its life is only available to us because an Animal and Tree has been sacrificed and no longer walks with us. This is honoured in our process of creation over the weekend, and we will be working with the Kangaroo medicine to fully respect and honour this kind and gentle animal.

Your completed drum can be used for whatever your heart yearns. Shamanic journeys, music-making, connecting to nature, re-membering ourselves, remembering the call of our heart, during ceremony, at sunset and dawn, to mark a birth, a death, or your menstrual cycle each month – the uses of this most special instrument are endless.

We will be sitting together on Artemis’s land in Aldgate. (Making a medicine drum, and it being a tool to connect you to nature, it is beautiful for the skin to be soaked in living water, which we will have access to from the creek).

Connecting together in this potent way, you will leave feeling immersed in the sacred feminine and more connected to the mystery’s of life and the community of women around you.

You will:

There is a NO REFUND policy if you are unable to attend, however, your place can be transferred to another woman (friend or family you know).

Please note – there are only eight (8) places for this workshop. No previous experience in attending a women’s circle, drumming or shamanic journeying is required. All women over 18year old are welcome.

This is not a residential workshop. You will go home on Thursday evening and return Friday morning.

I learnt more about myself and my own birth imprints than I expected.

The drum making workshop with Artemis was really beyond words. She created such a beautiful and nurturing container of connection and self discovery and I’m so so grateful to have been able to go through the drum making process with her. She midwifed me through moments of indecision and uncertainty, asked me the right questions to help me find the answers within myself and really gave me the gift of her space holding. I learnt more about myself and my own birth imprints than I expected. Artemis honors women and this drum making process, and she allowed me to learn from her, skills I hope to cultivate as a birth worker.

With love and gratitude,

 Alana x

I have never experienced something so deep to prepare myself to connect with myself and with our Earth’s natural hum.

A two day journey of connection, love and support to birth my drum. I have never experienced something so deep to prepare myself to connect with myself and with our Earth’s natural hum. Artemis carried me through major break-downs and break-throughs. The power of sisterhood, love and the experience to create an instrument in a special place at the Moon-lodge and land, is a beyond special memory that will stay with me forever.

I chose to attend this workshop because my heart yearned for my own drum to reflect my beat; and gosh did I thrive on the opportunity to create!

Making, indeed birthing, my own drum has been one of the most profound experiences of my life! I chose to attend this workshop because my heart yearned for my own drum to reflect my beat; and gosh did I thrive on the opportunity to create –  it was such a creative dive and indulgence; but what I hadn’t anticipated was the accompanying birth of my story as birthing woman. As Artemis midwived the birthing of my drum, she subtly and expertly guided me to navigate the story of my previous births, and the opportunity to reflect, learn and heal was tender, raw and real. My gratitude is as strong as the beat of my drum.

Artemis wove the discovery of the hidden places with in me beautifully over the two day work shop, allowing me to not only find my own question, but answer too...

I don’t normally write reviews but on this occasion I felt I must. The drum making work shop I attended in Artemis most beautiful space, was not only an exploration of birthing my own drum into existence, but a parallel excursion into the hidden realms of my own birth, life and personality. Artemis wove the discovery of the hidden places with in me beautifully over the two day work shop, allowing me to not only find my own question, but answer too…

Just do it ! Its so worth it. And at the end you receive a beautiful hand made drum with stories woven into the tapestry.

The drum making workshop was an incredibly transformational process that shon light on aspects of my birthing patterns that I never new existed. I was so surprised at what unravelled within the 2 days, i loved every minute of it but also was highly challenged at times as it was very confrontational. The space was held strongly and safely for me to dive into these challenging and emotional  spaces. I highly recommend this workshop to any woman that hears the call. Just do it ! Its so worth it. And at the end you receive a beautiful hand made drum w ith stories woven into the tapestry.

Cassie

I learnt so much about myself and for the first time reflected on certain experiences in my life and how they have shaped me as a person.

The drum making workshop was absolutely amazing! When I booked I wondered how making a drum could possibly take two full days, but the journey was so much more. I learnt so much about myself and for the first time reflected on certain experiences in my life and how they have shaped me as a person. Artemis was absolutely beautiful – she was there to assist, but not to give me the answers – I had to find them within myself.

 Sally O.

Ahhhhhhhh there are no words to express
my deepest gratitude.

Ahhhhhhhh there are no words to express my deepest gratitude to your space holding 💓 intensely loving & transformative , allowing me to feel into my own knowing , knowing I have all my own answers , thankyou , eternally grateful.

Each generation has made an effort to make the change they wish to see in the world.

And now it’s our turn.

Womb Lodge Ceremony

Ceremonies involving sweating and a small cave like structures have been used in every indigenous culture of the world for both healing and ritual purposes involving prayer, song and communication with Spirit. That said, there is a distinction to be made with each cultures ceremonial approach and the term they call it. From the celts in Europe, the indigenous in America and Australia, there is historical evidence for hundreds of years of this practice- and that this practice is inclusive of the world.

The Womb Lodge is the weaving together of my experience participating in the Lakota Sweat Lodge in India, the UK, the USA and Australia,  and my Celtic ancestry of sweat houses historically found in Wales, Ireland and Europe. The ceremony is a weaving of the Women’s Wheel and the four directions, honoring our selves as women journeying through this feminine wheel connecting us to all things; our bodies, our Earth and each other.

As with all ceremonial structures, the Womb Lodge is a living sacred presence, a holy place, a reflection of all creation and should be respected as such. She is a living sacred cave, or womb, where we come and experience healing, soul illumination and self empowerment, so we may re-member what we have forgotten. She is a place to be connected to the earth, our heart, each other and spirit. A place for prayer, song and release. With her small entrance, she invites us in to open up to Life, but also encourages us to go out again and live in the great Mystery. And because of this, she offers us a very deep experience; mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  A ‘whole’ or ‘holy’ experience.

There are many reasons to be called to participate in a Womb Lodge ceremony.  Maybe you are looking for a deeper connection to the Earth, our hearts or Spirit.  Maybe you want to immerse yourself in the greater whole of the world and feel the simplicity of your breath and the coolness of the Earth.  Maybe you are feeling the need to connect in prayer, with song, with others in community or you yearn for purification and heat, a primal place of source that calls you….

What ever the calling, the Womb Lodge will take you to a humble place of openness, a place of rebirth where you may walk forward having participated in holy communion with the Great Mystery.

The ceremony involves entering the lodge either naked, or with bathers and a sarong, bowing our heads to the Earth as we enter.  We find our place in the circle of the lodge.   Four ‘rounds’, each with a different intention are facilitated.  At the beginning of each ‘round’ hot rocks are brought into the lodge and placed into the centre pit.  The door is closed creating a small dark womb space. Water is placed onto the rocks creating steam and a hot environment. This environment is conducive to clear intentions and prayer that is of the deepest sincerity and authenticity.  We circle individually in prayer – for each other directions and each other and journey deeper within ourselves with each ‘round’. We are then re-birthed into the cool night air around the fire as we exit the lodge, again bowing our heads to the Earth.

We will sing, pray, connect to the Earth and be reborn fresh on to the soil of our Great Mother.

No experience of a sweating ceremony is necessary.  This is a women’s only lodge.

Please bring a plate of vegan/ vegetarian food to share to feast after our ceremony.  Salad, soup, frittata etc or a desert that is not too sweet.

It is recommended to fast from midday.

11 places available.
