Womens Sabbat Circles

There is something very healing and powerful when a group of women join and sit in circle. We become each others witnesses and are comforted and often healed by each others stories and presence.

Even just speaking your story out loud has the power to transform things and help process life events. Circle time reminds us and reconnects us to ourselves, each other and Mother Earth; and her cycles and rhythms.

Magic happens when women gather and sit in circle together.

Sacred time is something we all need in our lives. Gathering as women is a time old tradition, and one in which has slowly been lost. Communities have become segregated, we predominantly live in single family households, we often bring up children on our own.

We lose that connection to each other and ourselves. Its time to make the reversal.

Gathering together, we have that chance to reconnect to ourselves, and to reconnect to each other. It is deeply nourishing as a woman to sit regularly in a circle, and hear our sisters and friends express similar, and often the same blessings and challenges in their life. It is a great reminder that we are all so connected and that life is a joint experience. It gives us strength and reassurance and provides a pillar of support for the tough days.

Womens circles are not religious. We welcome everyone.

Sitting in a circle is about supporting, witnessing, being present and honouring each other as an equal, free from judgement and criticism. It is an intimate gathering where we speak our truth, listen and relate to others. It is where we can sit, fill our cup and be accepted just as we are. We put a pause on the outside world and be present in the sacred feminine energy and become women holding space.

Yule - Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice | Yule is the celebration of the longest night and the shortest, darkest day of the year.

I was able to grow and transform with the seasons, as well as connect to the roots of nourishment and
truth in the presence of others.

Sitting with women with circle as shaman is a profound and ancient practice. What this circle experience has meant for me…rhythm, ritual, honouring cycles and connection, being witness to myself and others, melting my defences, healing humanity, allowing emotion, stillness + reflection, celebration + honouring. 🙏

Thank you dear Artemis, for hearing your call to hold space for women, for creating this magick on the sacred land of your home and for holding space with such grace + love. Blessed be. 💗

Imbolc

Imbolc is a time of new hope, creativity and beginnings. We celebrate the ‘return of light’ as the days start to get longer and the nights decrease. There is a feeling of being ‘almost there’ as the energy of Imbolc is budding and emerging.

As we emerge from the long cold days, Imbolc is a fresh start to the women’s wheel.

Creative pursuits and dreams have been, until now, gestating quietly waiting for the right time to emerge as we took time to hibernate, restore and rest in Winter. We will explore what we wish to bring into our lives for the next twelve months. And because of this, it’s the perfect time to join a circle if you have not been before.

Imbolc is the time to have a Spring clean, look at what you don’t want to carry into the next year ahead – physically and metaphorically.

Is there anything you need to let go of in order to care for other priorities or dreams?

Imbolc is a beautiful time to plant seeds of intent for these dreams you have been gestating.

We will eat, share, sing, create and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey. We hold a safe and beautifully warm circle where all women feel the heart’s openness and connection.

Spring Equinox

Spring Equinox is the time of equal day and night and serves as the perfect opportunity to look within and discover what we need in order to have balance in our lives.

This time of increased light also represents new life, birth, sprouting growth, and the Maiden with her first period. We will explore this time and journey into our womb space to meet our Maiden Self for deep healing and acknowledgment of our Menarche. Using this medicine we bring sustenance into our lives to nurture any ‘new growths’ that we are creating.

This shamanic process will support you in gaining access to your wild authentic self, unashamed of her blood, body and femininity.

Your inner maiden will be seen, heard, held and loved as she is reunited with your adult self and the life you live today.

We will eat, share, sing, create and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey. The evening will deepen connections, trust, love, and friendship between women.

Beltane Women’s Circle

Beltane

Beltane is the ceremony celebrating peak Spring, the Sun, and the passionate union of the masculine and feminine. At this time of rising energy, as we approach the end of Spring and the beginning of Summer, Beltane would be marked by giving thanks for our fertile lives, our creativity, and our gender-specific gifts and roles. It was celebrated with passion to encourage the continual turning of the wheel and bring on the peak light of Summer Solstice.

Traditionally this time was celebrated with the lighting of fires in each country town.

The flames and their light symbolising the passionate union between the masculine and the feminine.  Dancing and singing were customary, and celebrations honoring the healing powers of sexual union and fertility were performed. Fires honoring the return of the light were lit and communities gathered to laugh, dance, sing and be merry!

This evening will allow you to dance and release your wild feminine essence with the sisters around you. Hearing the stories of a like minded community, and their own relationships to their bodies and sexuality is both liberating, deeply healing and empowering as we connect with our bodies and the wild ancient rituals of fertility.

We will eat, share, sing, create and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey. And there will be Fire!

This knowledge has changed my life. I will never be the same again.

The women’s circle offered by Artemis to me is a place to feel safe, a place to be heard, a place to deeply listen, a place to connect with sisters of all ages and all walks of life, a place to experience the joy of connection, a place to come to no matter where you are in life, no matter how you are feeling in that very moment and be welcomed.

One of the most important experiences of sitting in these circles for me was learning about and celebrating each turn of the wheel of the year. It showed me how not only was the earth cyclic, but we as women are cyclic also. I began to truly feel, and experience how connected we are as women to the cycles of the earth, whether it be through our menstrual cycle, our life cycle or the seasonal cycle… we are reflected in the earth and the earth is reflected in us.

This knowledge has changed my life. I will never be the same again. I thank Artemis so deeply for this space she has both created and continues to hold.

Summer Solstice

Summer Solstice celebrates the longest daylight hours of the year, a climax of great openness and expansion of energy and enthusiasm. This season of peak light emblazoned by seasonal bloom and fruiting, aligns with the fullness of mothering, maximum potential, beauty, and ripeness on the top of the Women’s Wheel.

It is the perfect time to look at what we are manifesting, and give great thanks for the fruition of our potential ‘crops’ (intentions we planted) during Spring.

This time is representative of ovulation in the seasonal wheel and menstrual cycle.

This time will be used to add fuel to our lives and intentions. Using our voices, presence, and songs to revere each of us in our full beauty and ripeness.  We will be experiencing a sound bath, and focus our circle on honouring our mothers in all their shades of dark and light – as well as how we ‘mother’ ourselves’.

Standing in the centre, the full light and focus of a sound bath will set your intentions clearly and open your heart.  You will come away being opened, with an embodied uplifting of energy representing the peak of this time, and have a full open heart. The vibration of sound shifting and circulating that which may feel stuck in our body will open up ways to move forwards from here.

We will eat, share, create, and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey.

This is the last of the celebrations before we begin the descent into the autumnal ‘harvest’ time of shedding, light receding, and ‘letting go’ as we move closer towards the ‘underworld’ and Winter.

Lammas

Lammas

Lammas is the first of three harvest festivals at the midway point between Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox. The time when we give thanks for the blessings in our lives and for the fruits, vegetables, and grains that we can now harvest – and will thus feed and sustain us through the coming cold winter months.

There is space and a more relaxed feeling to these current weeks after the peak energy and intensity of Summer Solstice and festive celebrations. We can move at a slower pace like the daylight hours slowly receding before the depths of Winter Solstice.

This is the time to have a final rest and breath deeply before the busyness of full harvest in our gardens, and in some of our lives, the school term resumes.

You will experience in your body the stillness and slowness needed for this time of rest.

We will be supporting each other with the use of massage and energy work providing us space to fully relax, let go and appreciate this rest and each other’s company. At Lammas, we will enjoy giving and receiving harvest blessings.

We will eat, share, sing, and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey. Together we will give thanks for the blessings in our lives and fill our cups with nourishment from our sisters.

Autumn Equinox

Autumn Equinox is the time of equal day and night and serves as the perfect opportunity to look within and discover what we need in order to have balance in our lives.

Leaves shedding represents Mother Nature ‘letting go’ as she prepares for dormancy and rest over Winter. We examine where we need balance in our lives prompting us to let go of what we no longer want and of what no longer serves. We also have this time, as the second of three harvest festivals, to appreciate what we have ‘harvested’ this time in the wheel in our life.

This circle is set at the gateway to the Underworld, as Persephone heads down again for the next 6 months.

We will be journeying to the Underworld through shamanic drum journeying and creative visualization. We will feast, sing, connect and participate in ritual to support this letting go – both physically and metaphorically so that we can rest and nurture ourselves over Winter. Making space to hear the whispers of new life coming from within, for the next annual cycle.

We will eat, share, sing, create and laugh together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey.

The evening will deepen connections, trust, love, and friendship between women

Samhain/ Halloween

Samhain (pronounced Sow-In) is a truly potent and magical time, as the veils between the worlds of life and death are thin, and we are able to access information and guidance from Spirit, our ancestors and our Guides and honour them. We are the sum of all our family trees and generations before us.

This time is of honoring our ancestors, the Wise Crone and the cycle of birth and death. As we continue this descent into Winter, what is actually happening is Mother Earth is letting out a beautiful exhale.

As we sit on the threshold of Winter and this time of year our environment is calling us to slow down and prepare for the coming dark cold days.

It is the last chance to ‘let go’ of what no longer serves us before we remain still over Winter.

We will be using the ancient medicine of our womens circle to hold space for each of us to give thanks to the departed loves ones, many of whose may have left us prematurely. Calling them in, giving thanks and honoring their wisdom. All life is sacred and to be remembered during this decent into Winter. You will receive the gratitude in your heart for the ones who have walked before us as we honor their lives and wisdom.

We will eat, share, create and participate in ritual together, using the ‘circle as shaman’ as we weave our stories into the wisdom and medicine we need to hear for our own personal life journey.

The evening will deepen connections, trust, love, and friendship between women. If weather permits we will be using the outdoor —circle space and fire pit on my land in Aldgate.

Yule

Yule - Winter Solstice

Winter Solstice | Yule is the celebration of the longest night and the shortest, darkest day of the year. We celebrate that we have traveled to this deep dark day and that the longer and lighter days are now in front of us.

As Yule is the celebration of death, the void, and birth, we will explore what we need to let go of, what lies in the void, and what seeds in our lives are gestating now over Winter.

This seasonal ritual is about the natural rhythms of our Great Mother Earth and her cycle of birth, growth, full bloom, harvest, decay, and death.

The same cyclical nature of seasons, the moon, our menstrual cycle, and our lives as women moving through the stages of Maiden, Mother, Maga, and Crone.

We will eat, share, create, and using the Circle as Shaman, bear witness to each other, share and hold space. The magic of this medium allows a gentle unfolding and connections to be made between each woman over the course of the evening.

We will also be doing a drum journey, an exercise in experiencing the void and making a symbolic lantern to carry us through these dark days.

The evening will deepen connections.
